Thanksgiving

It's been quite a while since our last post. We've had swimming lessons since then.

We also did some trick or treating of course.

Mary had a few different outfits for this Halloween. A Spanish Dancer, Jesse the Cowgirl, and a Gypsy.

Ronin was Yoda, or a Jedi without the hat.

Here's some more recent photos in November of the kids. And yes it was about 90 degrees on the day we took this pic of Ronin. Taken by my friend at Crystal Campbell Photography. And the one of Mary was by Valdez Photography.

We've also started in home therapy for Mary 3 times a week. We're currently waiting on Head Start or the school district to consider her autism diagnosis and enroll her in special ed preschool. But the wheels of bureaucracy turn slowly.

And the next holiday is Thanksgiving. We'll be going to a friend's house. A friend I made through one of the mom's group I'm in. It'll be my job to make the turkey. Wish me luck!

July 3rd at Legoland

We had a great time yesterday at Legoland. We went to the new Legoland water park and spent the rest of the day in Legoland. The new water park had a sand/beach area, beach chairs to lounge in, pool areas with intertubes and slides. It was pretty fun. It was small but well made and great for little kids. Roro had a great time!

We went on the dinosaur roller coaster, which Mary loves. And we saw fireworks, which Mary doesn't love. Afterwards she was all proud of herself saying, "I saw fireworks!" Because she was pretty scared when they were going off.

At one point during the day Mary got lost for a few minutes and I found her on the kiddie train. Someone gave me her hat back. I was like she didn't have a hat. But the other person said she had it the whole time they saw her. I didn't know what happened so we returned the hat to a store and hopefully the person got it back.

At the end of the day we were all very tired. Mary fell asleep in the car within a few minutes and so did Roro. When we got home, they were easy to put to bed, which was one of the easiest parts of the day.

We had a great time!

No Sleeping In

So as it turns out. The kids didn't sleep in. They woke up at 6:45am and Mary dozed off and on (in our bed) for another half hour and Ronin was awake. Mary also came to our bed in the  middle of the night. And Roro woke up at like 11pm for more formula. Maybe tonight?

SeaWorld Fun!

We had fun at sea world!  It was great! I had never been there before and grandma treated the whole family because she wanted to take Mary somewhere fun for summer. Mary and Ro had a great time. There are Lots of animals and shows. We got lots of food and fun! We also got 2 year passes for everyone cause they were having a special. So we can go til mid 2012 for free!

We of course saw Shamu and she got a puppy stuffed animal named Puppy. Mary got to touch a sting ray and they had some kiddie rides she went on too. Mary fell asleep before we got to the car and not even the fireworks woke her up. :). Ronin liked the fireworks. He had a couple of short naps so he outlasted Mary in the end. He's asleep now though. Let's hope the sleep til late morning. But I'm not betting on it. :)

I recommend going!

Mary's Assessment

So we had Mary assessed last Thursday. And what for you ask. For some time I've seen that Mary is speech delayed and mom's instinct told me that there were other developmental delays too. We had a developmental assessment done by a child psychologist and Mary was diagnosed with PDD-NOS, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (Not Otherwise Specified.)

The therapist recommended 5 days a week of in home cognitive therapy at an hour a day. And of course speech therapy, eating therapy, and occupational therapy to go along with it. And I need to go to the school district and get them started assessing her because when she turns 3 she can go to a special preschool and the school districts sort of take over the therapy. But one step at a time and it's all a little overwhelming. We'll figure it out.

Visit to Nor Cal

Hey, a couple of weeks ago we were able to go up north and visit some friends and family in Northern California. I got pretty sick last week with the flu so I didn't post anything. We got to visit Mater Rick and Jenny in Davis and we saw Grandpa Al and Grandma Deb in Sacramento. We got to eat at my favorite place in Stockton, Mongolian BBQ and we stayed with Grandma Kay while we were up there. I didn't get to see Auntie Annie and Uncle Bill or our good friend Patricia. Guess we would have needed a couple more days. We did get to see Uncle Derrick because he picked us up from the airport and hung out with us at night. Not sure when we'll be up next. We'll see.

Guess we should have taken pictures with the people we visited but I was pretty wasted most of the time and didn't think about it. The kids were wasted too. Such as all the way to and all the way home from Grandma and Grandpa's in Sacramento they cried and screamed. Luckily it was only a half hour from my mom's place so I survived.

Visiting Aunt Alice

We don't get to see Auntie Alice very often. She lives in Ontario and it's hard to drive with the kids up there to see her. But we got to go yesterday. Too bad the kids were getting a cold and were not their usual perky and jolly selves. We'll probably going to go again soon, which would be nice. Mary thought Auntie Alice was another grandma. She's my great aunt, so I can see how she would be grandma. The kids were good though. Mary took a good nap and Ronin got a few z's in. The kids were pretty wasted because they came down with what I had last week, which was fever, cough, runny nose, and crankiness.

Bubbles!

The other day it was super windy. And Mary wanted to play with the bubbles. We have an battery powered bubble blower and so we just went out back and blew some bubbles. They went everywhere because it was so windy. Mary had a great time til the bubbles ran out.

Yo at the Park, Babe

The other day we went to the park. There's a new park in San Marcos. It cost some obscene amount of money to build so we thought we should go enjoy it. There's shade and a sprayground. Here's Ronin chillin' with the other babies. Havin' as much fun as you can have when you can't crawl or walk yet.

Sealife Aquarium

Hey. Here we are at the Sealife Aquarium in Carlsbad next to Legoland. The kids are having a great time. Mary's running around with Daddy and RoRo's really loving the sharks and the rays. In a little bit we're gonna have lunch.

Strawberry Pickin'

Every year the Carlsbad Strawberry Fields open in April and we usually go every year. It's like 6 or 8 bucks for a little bucket and you can go out in the field and pick strawberries (and eat them.) This day me and Mary went with our moms group. Ronin was there too but he was strapped to me. We'll probably go again so Rich can come. The close in August or September depending on the season.

The Picture Adventure

Mary decided that she needed to play with the camera. So here's some results of Mary's picture adventure.
